The LES Film Festival Directors headed by Creators Damon Cardasis & Shannon Walker, as well as the Creative Team of Tony Castle & Roxy Hunt, have created a ﬁlm festival aimed at featuring the work of talented ﬁlmmakers on a budget, and showcasing those ﬁlms in the heart of the Lower East Side of Manhattan. In its inaugural year, the LES crew was able to turn the humble storefront space of Grand Opening, into a 20 day long ﬁlm festival extravaganza (with an additional 2 days added), that included intriguing Q&A talks with ﬁlmmakers, BYOB party goers, and a truly unique and intimate experience, that culminated in a sold out event every night!

The LES Film Festival 2012 runs Tuesday, March 6th through Sunday, March 18th. Screenings are BYOB (yeah, that’s right!) and will be held at Sunshine Cinema, Crosby Street Hotel, and our home base Grand Opening, an interactive storefront in the Lower East Side. LES* 2012 will focus again on creating an unparalleled combination of remarkable low-budget filmmaking in an intimate atmosphere, with the youthful and bold spirit of the Lower East Side. We will also host an Opening Night Party at 2A, an After Party at Hotel Chantelle, and a Filmmaker Reception at the Crosby Street Hotel. Tickets go fast so get yours today.

This year, the festival showcases films with talent as acclaimed and diverse as WILLEM DAFOE, ABEL FERRARA, DOLLY PARTON, DUSTIN LANCE BLACK, OLIVIA MUNN, SUSANNE BARTSCH, LIZZY CAPLAN, WHITNEY CUMMINGS, and JON HEDER.

LES Film Festival will award films in the following categories: Best Feature, Best Dramatic Short, Best Comedic Short, Best Documentary Short, as well as The Neighborhood Award and The Audience Award.

The winning films will be selected by an eclectic panel of judges: Academy Award ® winning actress SUSAN SARANDON, NYC performance artist JUSTIN BOND, “30 Rock” Producer JERRY KUPFER, GQ Senior Editor LOGAN HILL, “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” writer ERIC LEDGIN, and local NYC filmmaker and photographer HARVEY WANG.
