Description

Every Friday at La Dana High School, Ms. Murphy and her students rehearse a school shooting, their roles and blocking choreographed with chilling precision. After the school board finds out, they send in an interrogator to question the class. Rehearsal follows the series of interviews with these students, as they must defend how this twisted act gives them power over their own safety. As the offscreen questioner interrogates the group, he grows increasingly disturbed by these events they call “Rehearsal”. Does Ms. Murphy give an outlet to her marginalized students? Or does she tokenize them, reinforcing harmful stereotypes of victim and perpetrator? (20 minutes)
